Here are a few new photos I took in Saint Patrick's church, Kinkora, Canada of the high altar.

Mass in Kinkora
Just about to head off for Mass today, here is a photo of Mass in Saint Patrick's church, Kinkora, Ontario, Canada. This is where I attend the Mass every week, and I serve as Thurifer.
Quebec Flag
I wanted to share this on my blog. This is an old design for the Quebec flag that is scanned from a sticker given to me by a wonderful Catholic lady in Montreal.
Notre Dame de Lourdes Montreal, Interior
Here are some photos of the wonderful interior of Chappelle Notre Dame de Lourdes in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Chappelle Notre Dame de Lourdes
Chappelle Notre Dame de Lourdes is a wonderful chapel in Montreal, Quebec, that is a dazzling combination of the Roman and Byzantine styles of architecture. It is very small in comarison with many of the other churches in Montreal, but it has some splendid decoration. I believe they also have Eucharistic adoration each day for a period of time, and they work hard to maintain a prayerful atmosphere there. The chapel was constructed in 1876, and has paintings created by the renowned Montreal artist Napoléon Bourassa. Here is the exterior:

The altars of Notre Dame, Ottawa
Here, as promised, is a post on the beautiful altars of Notre Dame Cathedral-Basilica, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. First up is the beautiful high altar, with the wonderful statues of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Our Blessed Lady and Saint Joseph:
The entire sanctuary with it's traditional chancel and choir stalls is covered with Gothic ornamentation and statues:
Another view of the sanctuary with a stress o the high altar and Gospel side of the chancel.
Now on to the beautiful altar of the Sacred heart on the Gospel side of the nave. Another very beautiful Gothic altar:
I believe that my favorite altar for it's design in Notre Dame Ottawa, is Our Lady's altar. Here is a view of it looking from the center of the nave:
Here is a direct-on view of Our Lady's altar, was constructed of wood and covered in gold leaf in 1885:
Here is a closer view of the lower section of the reredos of Our Lady's altar. The ornamentation on this altar is quite detailed:

Welcome
Welcome to my new blog, Splendor. This blog will replace my old one that I deleted some time ago, Splendoris. This blog will focus primarily on Traditional Catholic art and architecture from Canada, but, as I hope to partake of some international travel someday, will not be strictly limited to Canada.
With this first post, I will concentrate on the beautiful church I have chosen as the header for the blog, Notre Dame Cathedral-Basilica in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is hard to match the beauty of this spectacular Neo-Gothic edifice. This Cathedral church was built from 1841 to 1865. The interior ornamentation dates from 1876 to 1885. Here is a photo of the exterior:
The bulk of the exterior being quite simple, the most outstanding feature is definitely the high and slender Gothic spires. Here are some photos capturing the beauty of these fingers pointing to the heavens.
Aonther photo of the wonderful spires of Notre Dame
In striking contrast to the simple exterior is the very ornate Gothic interior of Notre Dame, Ottawa. This interior is one of the most detailed and beautiful church interiors I have had the pleasure of viewing. Here is an interior photo:
And another interior photo to show the width:
The interesting two storey galleries in the nave of the Cathedral:
I will create a second posting of this amazing church that will focus on the sanctuary and altars, which are of exquisite beauty and detail. Again, welcome to my new blog, and I hope you will enjoy!
